The Diver
Down, down, down.
Deeper, deeper.
Far deeper than any fish dare go.
The Diver still goes on,
persuing the imaginations of men.
A light goes on and flickers,
penetrates even the dark, thick,
thick, dark waters of hell.
Only rock and gloomy shadows are seen,
only these tell him he's alive.
The pressure of the water pushes,
the reinforced plastic resists.
The air is thick and sickly,
unpleasant to the tongue.
But still he keeps on diving,
and will forevermore.
Until - at last there is no sea,
no more knowledge to aquire.
